Chapter 6

“Hongchuan Dojo”

Following the directions on his phone, Lu Sheng stopped in front of the nearest martial arts gym to his home.

The gym was rather modest, neither impressively decorated nor shabby. It was a rather ordinary privately owned martial arts gym.

“The owner, Ni Hongchuan, is a Level 4 martial artist, skilled in the traditional boxing techniques passed down from his ancestors. He has once reached the top ten in the 23rd Baihe City’s Martial Arts Conference.”

Looking at the enrollment advertisement stuck to the gym’s gate, Lu Sheng read the words aloud.

The Level 4 martial artist mentioned in the ad caught Lu Sheng’s attention.

According to the standards set by the World Martial arts Alliance, a Level 4 martial artist had to have a peak blood value of over 200 and a combat power exceeding 100,000.

“That’s equivalent to more than 200 times my blood value, with a combat power 100 times more than me,”

Lu Sheng roughly imagined that level of power, and what he got was very ridiculous.

The higher the martial levels, the wider the gap between each level is.

A “Level 4 martial artist” could be considered a master in Baihe City and a notable figure in the martial arts world.

Judging by that, this martial arts gym could count as having a quite solid foundation.

However, all this was irrelevant to Lu Sheng.

The tuition fee mentioned in the advertisement was far beyond what he could afford.

A martial artist from an average family like him could barely manage the expenses of the tonics needed for daily martial arts practices, let alone pay for extra classes to improve his combat skills.

This kind of treatment could only be enjoyed by rich kids.

“If Lu Qinghe wants to join this martial arts class, maybe our family can afford it, nevermind me. Furthermore, with the path to absorb zombie martial arts memories in my dreams, I don’t really need these extra classes,”

Lu Sheng thought as he strode into the Hongchuan martial arts gym.

The entrance led to a reception area. A girl in her early twenties, with a somewhat attractive appearance, was in charge of the front desk.

Seeing Lu Sheng, the girl quickly put on a professional smile and greeted him, “Are you here to enroll in our martial arts improvement class?”

Lu Sheng shook his head, “I’m here to test my blood value and combat power.”

Most martial arts gyms offered testing services similar to schools. The results were almost identical, and the fees were not high.

The girl at the front desk glanced at Lu Sheng’s school uniform and nodded, “Alright, just a sec.”

With her keen observation, she could tell that Lu Sheng came from a modest background, and there was no need to persuade him further.

“Go along the corridor into Room 8, there is a testing machine inside. Can you operate it, or would you like someone to assist you?”

The girl’s attitude was still decent, and she didn’t look down on Lu Sheng.

Lu Sheng said he could handle it and accepted the rental card she gave him. He followed her directions and found the dedicated testing room.

The machine used to test blood values resembled a photocopier, with a small groove at the bottom and a disposable sterile sampling needle beside it.

Lu Sheng opened one of the needles, drew a small drop of fresh blood from his left middle finger, and placed it in the machine’s groove. A faint blue light shone onto the drop of blood, and then the blood testing machine made a soft “beep” sound as a number appeared on the LCD screen.
;
“0.963.”

The blood value was precise to the thousandth place.

Although Lu Sheng had expected it, he couldn’t help but clench his fist firmly when he saw the number.

His blood value had indeed increased!

And the increase wasn’t tiny.

It had risen 0.18, which was nearly 0.2 higher.

“It has been proven that everything I obtained in that dream can be brought into reality. This isn’t just a simple game of killing monsters and leveling up anymore; it’s real cultivation!”

Lu Sheng could barely contain his excitement.

No one wanted to be mediocre, let alone he, who had already experienced mediocrity in his last lifetime.

He finally saw a glimmer of hope about shining brightly in martial arts. How could he not be excited and delighted?

“Let’s test the combat power next.”

The machine used to test combat power was much larger, about the height of a person. In the center of the machine, there was a groove filled with cushioning.

To test the combat power, he only needed to hit the groove with a punch.

“I should try using the techniques I obtained from the two jumpsuit zombie’s memories.”

Lu Sheng wasn’t sure about how strong the two zombies he had killed were, but he was sure they were stronger than him.

The techniques and experience they had gained through rigorous training and battles during their lifetimes were undoubtedly treasures to him.

“Hah!”

Lu Sheng took a deep breath, his right arm followed the trajectory of the technique he remembered, and threw a powerful punch into the machine’s groove.

“Bang!”

A number popped up on the screen.

“113.”

His combat power was 113, exceeding the standard combat power for someone with the blood value of 0.96.

This had to be the result of the techniques he had acquired.

Lu Sheng then tested the left arm, and the number was slightly lower but still above 100.

After several tests, Lu Sheng was finally satisfied.

“Last year’s admission standard for the Bahie City Martial Arts undergraduate program was a blood value of 1.05 and a combat power standard of 105.

In other words, I’ve already met the requirements for an undergraduate program.

Even if I can’t enter the dream again, I’ll be able to comfortably enroll in any of the public martial arts universities in the national entrance exam 200 days later.”
